Plugin 01
Darwin AI
AI help on your WordPress site, on your terms.
Ask for a job in plain English and Darwin AI does it: fixes, new pages, answers about your site. You choose what it can touch and for how long, nothing changes until you press Apply, and every step is written down.
Needs WordPress 7.0+ and PHP 8.2+.
What you can ask
If you can describe it, it can probably help.

How it works
Two ways to use it.
Ask the chat for everyday jobs. Hand bigger ones to an AI assistant like Claude. Both use the same tools and the same rules.
For everyday jobs · no setup
Ask in your admin
- 1Ask
Open the Darwin AI panel and type the job, the way you'd say it to a colleague.
- 2It looks around
It reads your site with the same tools an assistant would use, so it works from what's really there.
- 3It shows you the change
You see exactly what it wants to do before anything happens.
- 4You press Apply
Or Decline. Nothing on your site changes until you say so.
The chat uses the AI service you connect in WordPress itself, so Darwin AI never stores your key. Spending is capped from the start at $1 an hour and $5 a day, and you can change both.
For bigger jobs · developers and agencies
Give your AI assistant a pass
- 1Create a pass
Three choices: a name, what it may do, and how long it lasts, from 1 to 24 hours.
- 2Hand it over
Darwin AI gives you a short connection block to paste into Claude Code, Codex or any assistant that speaks MCP.
- 3It works, you watch
Every step is checked against the pass and written to the History, until the pass runs out or you cancel it.
The chat sticks to small, safe jobs. Page design, code, deleting things and updates need a pass, and the chat suggests one when you ask for them.
How to connect your assistantSafety
You stay in charge, at every step.
Handing AI the keys to a live site is the wrong idea. Darwin AI gives it a pass instead: limited, temporary, and on the record.
Only what you allow
Every pass has a level. Pick the lowest one the job needs; the assistant can't go above it, and anything it tries beyond that is refused.
- InspectorLooks, never touches
- EditorPages, posts, media, menus
- BuilderPlus theme, widgets, design
- ManagerPlus orders, users, settings
- OwnerPlus plugins, code, deleting
Each level includes everything below it.
It stops when you say
A pass runs out on its own after the time you choose. Need it gone sooner? Cancel it in one click and the assistant is cut off straight away.
How long should this pass last?
Then it expires on its own.
Nothing hidden
The History records every action, and every refusal, with the pass it came from. It keeps 90 days, and anything that looks like a password is hidden.
- Content auditRead 42 pages
- Content auditListed images without alt text
- Content auditTried to edit the Pricing page: refused, pass is look only
- Alt text fixAdded alt text to 38 images
No passwords shared
You never hand out your WordPress login, and there's no Darwin account to create. The pass is all the assistant gets.
Safety nets
And if something does go wrong.
- See the plan first
In the chat, every change is shown as a plan you Apply or Decline. Assistants can ask for the same dry run before they act.
- A snapshot before every edit
Pages and posts are snapshotted before each edit and kept for 7 days, so a change can be put back.
- Updates that roll back
Updates are checked before and after, with a snapshot of code and database. If something broke, it rolls back on its own.
- Plugins checked on arrival
After switching a plugin on, it checks the site still works, and switches it off again if not. Files are backed up before they change.
For agencies
Built by an agency, for agencies.
Darwin AI runs on our own agency's client sites first. It's made for the way agencies actually work.
- A pass per person, per job
Give a developer or freelancer exactly the access one job needs, for exactly as long as it takes.
- Answers for clients
"Who changed this?" has an answer. The History shows every step, with the pass and its name.
- Bring your own assistant
Claude Code, Codex or anything that speaks MCP. No lock-in to one AI company.
- Incognito mode
Hide Darwin AI from other admins on a client's site, so only the people you choose can see it.
Better with Side Kick
Even more useful side by side.
Side Kick is made by the same team, with the same look, in the same admin. Easy Emails' Ask AI button uses the AI service and spending cap you set up here.
Meet Side KickQuestions
Good questions to ask.
Is it safe to let AI change my site?
Darwin AI is built around that question. In the chat, nothing changes until you press Apply. An assistant only gets a pass: limited to the level you choose, gone after the hours you choose, cancellable at any time, and every action is recorded.
Do I need to be technical?
No. The chat lives in your WordPress admin and works in plain English. Passes for AI assistants are there for developers and agencies who already use one.
Which AI does it use?
The chat uses the AI service you connect in WordPress itself, and suggests Anthropic's Claude models. Darwin AI never stores your API key. For bigger jobs you bring your own assistant, such as Claude Code or Codex.
Can I undo a change?
Yes. Darwin AI takes a private snapshot before it edits an existing page or post, and keeps it for 7 days. Updates are snapshotted too, and rolled back automatically if something breaks.
What does it cost?
Darwin AI is free for testers during the alpha.
What do I need to run it?
WordPress 7.0 or newer and PHP 8.2 or newer. Not sure what you have? Check Tools → Site Health in your admin, or ask your host.
How do I stop an assistant mid-job?
Cancel its pass in the Darwin AI panel. It's cut off straight away, and the pass would have run out on its own anyway.
What do alpha testers get?
A licence key, updates straight from your WordPress admin, and a direct line to the developer for reports and ideas.
What does the licence key do?
It brings you updates. One key covers a few sites, and Darwin AI keeps working without one. Updates are signed by Darwin Labs and every file is checked before it's installed.
What leaves my site?
Chat messages go to the AI service you connected. The licence and update check sends your key, your site's address and the plugin version to Darwin Labs. Feedback is only sent when you click send, and automatic error reports are off unless you switch them on.
