Omni Logger
What changed on your site, who changed it, and when.
A diary of your site that writes itself: logins, edits, users, plugins and more. When something looks wrong, you can see exactly what happened.
At a glance
Find what happened, fast.
- The week in four numbers
Today, the last 7 days, entries worth a look, and who's been most active.
- Search and filter
Search the log, or filter by how serious an entry is and by who did it.
- Before and after
Open any entry for the details, including old and new values where they're kept.
- Straight to the source
Entries link to the page, user or category they're about.
What it logs
More than you'd think.
Every entry gets a severity, from low to critical, so the important ones stand out. Background jobs like scheduled publishing show as "System".
Logins
- Log in and log out
- Failed logins, including usernames that don't exist
- Password resets
Pages and posts
- Created, published, scheduled, set to draft or private
- Title, URL, author, template, date and featured image changes
- Trashed, restored and deleted
- Custom field (ACF) changes
Users
- Created and deleted
- Role and capability changes
- Email changes, with the old and new address
- Password changes, and application passwords
Plugins and themes
- Installed, activated, deactivated and deleted
- Updated, from which version to which
- Auto-updates switched on or off, and failed auto-updates
- File edits made in the admin
Site integrity
- Permalink and rewrite rule changes
- .htaccess changes, even ones made over FTP or in your hosting panel, with the lines added and removed
Media, comments and tags
- Uploads, deletions, alt text and caption changes
- Comments approved, spammed, edited or deleted
- Categories and tags created, renamed, merged or deleted
Your choice
Log only what you need.
Each kind of activity has its own switch on the "What is logged" page. Everything is on to start with. Switch something off and new entries stop, while old ones are kept.
In practice
Jobs it does for you.
- See every failed login, including made-up usernames
- Find out who changed a page's title or URL, and what it was before
- Know when a plugin was installed, updated or deleted, and by whom
- Get an entry when someone edits .htaccess, even over FTP
- Track role and email changes on user accounts
Good to know
The details.
- Stored in your own site's database. Nothing is sent anywhere.
- IP addresses aren't recorded.
- Content edits are noted, but the text before and after isn't stored.
- Entries are kept until you remove them; there's no automatic clean-up yet.
- Not covered yet: WordPress core updates, general settings and WooCommerce orders. There's no export yet either.
- Only administrators can see the log.
